President's July/August 2008 Message
Hello to All at the Post and Auxiliary!
This is my first President’s message and I can’t think of a better way to start off than by thanking Carol Steinhauer, again, for the fabulous job she’s done for the last two years! The Auxiliary has been able to do so many good things to benefit veterans, their families and the community, in a variety of different ways – in the Post, throughout the Community, and around the world wherever our troops are stationed -- and Carol’s leadership, people skills and unflagging good humor went a long way toward helping to make all those things happen. I hope the job of being your President will be as easy as she made it look…!
On the horizon, we have the Fireworks Stand coming up – this is our big annual fundraiser and we look for it to carry us through much of the next 12 months. We need everyone to check out the schedule (posted in the entryway) and sign up for a few hours of selling fireworks – it’s fun and it makes it possible for the Post and Auxiliary to reach out to honor those who have served and provide the setting and the framework for the VFW’s programs to continue: Voice of Democracy, National Home, Patriotic Art, Community Service, Buddy Poppy, Hospital, Operation Gratitude and much more, all depend heavily on our continued involvement, each in our own way. I’m reaching out to all members to help with the Fireworks Stand and to help spread the word about all the fun that belonging to the Auxiliary can be: a place to share, make new friends and do some good works that help each other and our veterans.
Summer is a time to enjoy Sun, Surf and Fun – I wish you all days of sunshine and joy. It’s a time to celebrate the beginnings of our great Nation and to take a moment to remember that the Freedoms we enjoy now were not free for the asking 232 years ago, and they still aren’t today: we have to work at them every day. I look forward to working -- and playing! -- with each of you in the coming year as we advance the goals of the VFW and Auxiliary.
Loyally,
Madeline "Maddie" CUNNINGHAM-COLSTON
President
TO ALL AUXILIARY MEMBERS BOTH LIFE AND CONTINUOUS:
We're starting a new fiscal year and I would like to thank those who elected me as your treasurer . . . once again. I will continue to work, as I have in the past, at the level to which all of you expect of me. Let us all get behind our new President and give her the support she needs. We're going to have a great year!
To our continuous members: dues for 2009 were mailed out in May. The dues are $20.00. I will be mailing the new dues cards for 2009 by the first of July for those that I have received their dues.
I still have some two year planners for the year 2009-2010 left. They are $2.00 if picked up and $3.00 if mailed. If you would like any please let me know and send me the money and I will see that you get what you order. ALSO . . . we will have new rosters available for purchase. The cost of these will also be $2.00 if picked up and $3.00 if mailed.
I will leave some of the two year planners and also the rosters at the bar at the Post, so if you wish you can purchase them there.
If you have any questions please call me and if I am not home leave me a message and I will get back to you. Or leave a message at the Post and they will see that I get it.
Loyally,
Rita E. KURTZ
Treasurer and Membership Chairman

We offer desserts and whole baked goods or multiple portions during the same hours - 3 to 6pm during the dinner and 9-11:30am or noon during breakfast.
Please be sure to stop by and help support us in one of our fundraisers. Thanks from the Bake Sale Ladies.

Auxiliary meetings are held the 2nd Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at your Post 2075
Ladies, we ask that you start participating more with our meetings and activities. Let others know that our Auxiliary exists and we are functioning not just for fulfilling our obligations to Department but also letting the public know we are fulfilling our obligations to our Veterans’, their families, children and youth and our community.
Do you have juniors (ages 0—18) that might be interested in learning about our organization? They can help promote our Auxiliary programs through their schools. Juniors are able to apply for scholarships, help support U. S. Military service personnel and their families, they receive rewards and accolades that look good on their scholarship applications. But the most important benefit they receive is their activities instills pride in them because they are able to educate others in what true Patriotism is all about.
